New workspaces for Silvertown

New workspaces for Silvertown

Around 150 artists’ studios and community spaces will form a temporary neighbourhood of shipping containers as part of the V22 Silvertown Studios development.

Planning consent was granted earlier this year for art organisation V22 to work alongside the Silvertown Partnership, the GLA and the London Borough of Newham. The result will be the creation of affordable workspaces and studios, exhibition and community spaces, cafe/bar and leisure areas, as well as green spaces and gardens.

The project’s design consultants, HTA, point out that London will lose up to 30% of its existing artists’ workspaces over the next four year, according to The World Cities Culture Report published in 2015.
