ABP hosts Topping Out ceremony at Royal Albert Dock

More than 200 guests from the UK and overseas attended a Topping Out ceremony at Royal Albert Dock on April 12 to mark construction of the first phase of the £1.7 billion development project reaching full height.
ABP chairman Xu Weiping and Rajesh Agrawal, Deputy Mayor for Business (pictured) celebrated the topping out process. The development of Phase One began in April 2017 and is on course for completion in March 2019. Set across eight acres, it will deliver approximately 635,000 sq ft of commercial office space, with accompanying retail space and a high-quality urban realm.
John Miu, Chief Operating Officer at ABP London, said: “Companies choosing to locate in Royal Albert Dock will be well positioned to capitalise on the increasing number of talented and skilled people moving into east London as well as business opportunities in knowledge-intensive sectors such as media, fashion, fintech, as well as legal services and biopharmaceuticals.
More than 20 high tech companies from Shenzhen have committed to take part in the ABP International Tech Centre. This follows the agreement between ABP London and Tian An Cyber Park Group to create an innovation centre for Guangdong Province in London.
The first five companies have committed to take space at the Innovation Centre. They are Shenzhen Beiai Apparel, Dongguan Minas Aeronautical Technology, Shenzhen Daqin Check and Balance Technology, Play in a Workshop and FaceWarrant Information Technology (Shenzhen).
More than 10 UK based companies have also already agreed to exhibit at the Tech Hub Centre at ABP’s Compressor House building, which is being converted in readiness for London Tech Week which takes place between June 11 and 19. They include companies like Huawei, Siemens, Honeywell and Porsche.
News of their commitment came during a visit by London Deputy Mayor James Murray and witnessed by James Murray and ABP London’s CEO Nancy Xu. This took place at Tian An’s Shenzhen complex. Others present included representatives from CCPIT, The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and other business and political leaders.
ABP and Tian An Cyber Park Group have created a partnership in order to build a platform to raise the profile of China and UK Tech companies during London Tech Week, which runs from June 11-17.
The ABP Tech Week will take place at the Royal Albert Dock East Meets West International High Tech Hub. ABP will organise a programme of events and activities to build cooperation between Shenzhen Tech companies and those from the UK and overseas.
